Nisselue Tassels
Nisse are little household spirits who wear red pointy hats. They are popular in Norwegian folklore. Women knitted red hats with tassels during the Nazi occupation of Norway in WWII. Wearing the hat became a symbol of freedom and political unity. The hats were banned in 1942. Today, craftivists knit red hats to express their outrage at the mistreatment of Minnesotans by ICE. This tassel may be hung on your handbag, keychain or rearview mirror to demonstrate your support.

I make these tassels for people who don't knit or don't wear hats and want to support the Melt the Ice hat project by Paul Neary. I suggest that you purchase the pattern on Ravelry and use the instructions to make a tassel. The project gives the money to immigrant causes in Minnesota.
